here are some things i never want to forget about this summer with my son....
1. that in our attempt to keep him away from hot items, such as ovens and such, we somehow instead have him saying "hot" every single time he sees a light. he'll even run over to our lamp saying "hot, hot, hot..." as he turns it on. so-- we'll see how reversing this process goes...so far it's been rough. we say "light" and he responds quickly with "hot"...like he thinks he really did just say "light". ha.
2. i never want to forget how DANG cute it is to see my son break down into a dancing frenzy. it's the best. he looks down & concentrates on his complicated footwork (which involves running in place as fast as he can)-- and sometimes he'll throw in a quick spin. way too cute.
3. henry has learned how to kiss-- anything and everything. he'll do it on command to you, your friend, a blanket, whatever.
4. he climbs...and does it very well. it's rough trying to keep him OFF the kitchen table these days. but it's cute to see him climb up into the van as we're off to go someplace.
5. cutest thing ever yesterday while i was at work-- case said henry woke up and as he was changing him henry went on to talk. first he said the typical "hot" as he pointed at the light above his head. then he looked at casey and started saying "mama, mama, ...." TOO sad. he missed me right when he woke up! dang, i was glad case told me this story AFTER i had come back from my last day at work.
6. henry's become a big helper at home. he'll help me with the laundry (the other day he helped load the dryer), he'll bring things over to me & go get them, whatever he can do to feel like he's doing his part in this family.
7. he's loved doing a garden with me this summer. it's been fun to enjoy more of the produce as the tomatoes have been coming. henry LOVES going out there and finding the right tomatoes to pick (with mom's help, of course!). i think he's getting that the ripe ones are red now...we had a green casualty early on b/c he picked faster than i could stop him!
8. that babies are SO smart and once they understand a word they can apply it to any situation. example-- i taught henry "yucky" to get him to stop putting dirt & such in his mouth. later the stinker started tossing a cob of corn that he didn't want to eat away as he yelled "yucky, yucky...." shoot, why in the world didn't i start by teaching him the positive side of things? next word on the list to learn is yummy.....
ps. i don't have pics to post b/c it's super hard to take pics of my son these days. he's way too fast for my slow digital camera & i constantly keep snapping pics of NOTHING in my attempts to catch him. hopefully i can snap one of him soon and get some updates on here....
